About Us
The Southern Highlands Children’s Choir was formed in 2023 as a response to the need for a quality vocal ensemble for children in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. The choir is led by our Musical Director, Mrs Jennifer Jones, supported by our experienced accompanist, choral conductor and rehearsal manager.
The choir aims to provide quality vocal and musical training within a safe and encouraging environment. Rehearsals are designed to develop each child’s natural singing voice, together with correct vocal technique and breathing. Kodaly methods are used to achieve aural and music reading skills in an atmosphere of fun and encouragement.

A wide range of musical genres is explored including popular, musical theatre, classics, world music, folk and Australian works. Repertoire selected is quality music that is age and developmentally appropriate.

The Southern Highlands Children's Choir is a non-auditioned choir for children in Years 3-6. Rehearsals are held weekly from 4-5pm during the school term at East Bowral Community Centre.

The choir was formed by our Musical Director, Jennifer Jones, and is supported by a conductor, accompanist and rehearsal manager. All staff are qualified in their area of expertise and have a current Working with Children Check.

The most rewarding time of my career has been the privilege of collaborating with children from every corner of the globe who share an unwavering passion for singing! There's something magical about being in a room filled with young voices – the laughter, the learning, and the music that echoes through the air sends shivers of delight down my spine.
When children sing, it's not just a sound; it's a pure, unfiltered expression from deep within their hearts. It's a reflection of their essence, a soulful resonance that transcends words. The sheer joy they bring to everyone fortunate enough to listen is nothing short of enchanting. Their voices become a mirror, revealing the beauty of their very being through music.
To me, there's no greater testament to the power of music and the heartwarming impact of nurturing young talent. It's a privilege I hold dear, and I'm impassioned to continue fostering this extraordinary journey of discovery and joy with every child I meet.
